Swim
Comments: I was passing quite a few people on the swim and maybe that is why I kept going off course. I would draft for 20-30 seconds and then bump into the feet. So I would go around, maybe I just forgot to correct when going around. Halfway through swim I remembered I forgot to eat powerbar before starting. 3 hours since last food and I had a ways to go. Not good. What would you do differently?: Figure out how to swim in a straighter line. Transition 1
Comments: Both transistions really sucked for me. Long run out of water to transition area that was a ways away. Not complaining about the set-up, I just didn't do them well. What would you do differently?: ? Bike
Comments: Great bike course. What would you do differently?: Eat something before hand. Transition 2
Comments: This is where I completely lost it. I got into T2 and it's like I lost my mind. I was looking at my shoes and I wasn't sure what to do with them. Evebtually I put down my running shoes and grabbed my socks to put them on.I realized eventually it is very hard to put socks on over bike shoes. Took off bike shoes and put socks and shoes on. It was very strange, I'm not sure why I had such a tough time in T2 What would you do differently?: Pull my head out of my ass. Run
Comments: I started this run out feeling pretty good despite the disaster in T2. I went out slower than I thought I could handle because of the not eating anything. I felt really good until about mile 3. The sun and the long day started to take it's toll at this point. I kept up a decent pace but was really hurting because of it. Quds were screaming when I finally finished. What would you do differently?: Eat something. Post race
Warm down: Got something to eat and drink asap. Met up with some other people I know and watched Kelly(wife) come in. She knocked almost 9 minutes off from her time last year and was rightfully happy. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition Event comments: I loved this race. The volunteers were unbelievable and everyone was so nice. Water stations and sponges dipped in ice water were great. Kelly and I will make this a regular race on our schedule from now on. Woke up at hotel and had a bagel 3 hours before race time. Good thing I had both sides of bagel with peanut butter. Was only thing I would have to eat for awhile. Met up with some B.Ters and hung out with lovely wife who was also doing the long course. Met up with Kriss, Kelly, Steve, Ben, Jim and Tom. As a side note Tom did an incredible thing for a group doing a relay. Completely selfless act that was incredibly kind. I'll mention it in a later thread.
Did a short ride and then did a pretty long swim to warm-up.
