Swim
Comments: Started by wading into the water. Walked a pretty good way into the water. Bottom was muddy, which was good incentive to start swimming :) What would you do differently?: Lots more training in pool and open water! Need to learn to relax. Remember to pee before exiting water... not comfortable to ride 13 miles when having to go!! Transition 1
Comments: Got to my transition area and found someone else's cap and goggles on my towel. Hmmmm... did I do the swim twice? :) Forgot to step in pool to get sand off feet. I noticed that as I was putting on my first sock. Took my second water bottle and used remainder of water in it to wash off my feet. What would you do differently?: Spend time before race thinking through transition. Maybe try to practice bike and run without socks. Bike
Comments: Dropped my computer off the bike around mile 3. I think I was trying to get out one of my gels. Still not exatly sure how I did that. Of course, I had to go back to get it :( What would you do differently?: More training; need to improve speed. My speed was pretty good for me, but I could have done better give the slow start. Transition 2
Comments: Transition was okay until I was out of the T2 area and realized I had forgot to put my race belt and number on. UGH! Had to go back and get it. Otherwise, transition felt okay. What would you do differently?: Again, spend time thinking through and practicing transitions. Run
Comments: Walked most of the first mile to let my heart rate drop. Ran most of the second and third miles. Ate a gel just before the 1 mile aid station. What would you do differently?: More training! (Am I sounding like a broken record?) Need to improve endurance and increase speed. Post race
Warm down: Met hubby and son at the finish line... walked around a bit to cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training and mental effort before the race... Need to make it a priority to prepare. Event comments: The post race activities were high quality... food was great, t-shirt is nice! The only negative thing to say is that the line for returning chip and t-shirt was too long. The line for food was very close the the t-shirt line and the entire area was very narrow, so it was pretty chaotic. However, overall the race was very well done and I plan to do it again next year! I finished at the very back of my AG. The good news is that there is (almost) nowhere to go but up :) It was definately a day for learning experiences and for that I am thankful and glad that I participated. Most importantly, I learned that triathlon is not a sport for the passive. You have to be physically prepared and mentally engaged. I was not "on my game" for this one, but learned through it. Now, I'm revived for four weeks of training before the Peachtree City Sprint! Last updated: 2007-01-31 12:00 AM

Was able to eat this time before the race, which I know really helped with energy level. (My first Tri was in June and I was too nervous to eat.) Ate oatmeal at the house and banana and gel about 30 minutes before the start.
Got to the park around 6:00 am. Left hubby and son sleeping in the car :)
Set up transition, made a couple trips to the porta-potties, walked through the T1 entrance to the transition area to get my bearings.
Got in the water for a minute, but did not have time to warm up. Mingled with a few other participants in my AG before the swim start.
