Overall Rank = 72/80
Age Group = F 20-23
Age Group Rank = 7/7
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 3:30 this morning without assistance. Ate a bagel at 5:30, apple at 7:30. Drove to the community center. Got marked, watched the heat before mine go off in the pool.
Event warmup:

50yd slow and easy in the pool.
Swim
  • 09m 14s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim went pretty smoothly. I'm not used to swimming half-lane, but I dealt. My pace was faster than I had anticipated and I felt pretty good both in the water and coming out.
What would you do differently?:

More rotation, flipturns
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transition was right behind my lane. Toweled off as well as I could, then put on the shirt, socks, and shoes. Speed laces helped. Caught a glimpse of my swim time on the clock and was feeling pretty condfident. Jogged down the hallway and into bike/treadmill area. Picked a bike and got going.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 17m 32s
  • 8 miles
  • 27.38 mile/hr
Comments:

So... these bikes were really fast. My muscles are dialed in to a cadence in the mid-90s. I don't think I dropped below 100 at any point on the bike. Their resistance 5 was equivalent to resistance negative 5 on the bikes I train on. Not exactly a realistic reflection of road racing - don't I wish I was that FAST!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 was essentially hopping off the bike and onto a treadmill.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 35m 10s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 14m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Was keeping with the run/walk routine. About half a mile in, my shins started cramping fiercely when I was walking. They didn't hurt when I ran, but I didn't want to blow up. So I toughed out about 3/8mi fast walking then went back to running. The last 1/4 mile, I ramped it up and ran at 5.8mph for a good finish kick. Was a bit shaky when I finished, but feeling awesome.
What would you do differently?:

More run training
Post race
Warm down:

Small bit of walking

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Excess weight, swim technique, and running endurance

Event comments:

The JCC did a pretty good job on this race. There were enough volunteers. It was odd doing in a 6 person heat... I didn't really get a sense of the scale of the race. And obviously, indoor tris don't have aid stations, but the volunteers were awesome - handing out towels and water during the ride and run. Good fitness check for the season.
