Run
Comments: 1st 3 miles were a breeze and then we needed a pit stop. Waited in line for the toilet for a while. I started to getting hungry at mile 2 so I guess I should have eaten a larger breakfast. Miles 4 - 6 were also easy maintaining about a 10 min / mile pace. During mile 7, Brenda's knee began to hurt so we eased it back to 12:30 per mile for the last few. 15 mph wind at our back and a downhill course made this a nice easy run for me. What would you do differently?: Eat more for breakfast. Find a way to take care of business before getting to the race. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and a pretzel. Found Bridget and some other friends and headed back to the city for some breakfast. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. This was a fun race with friends. Time and performance were not a consideration. Event comments: Great race. Really cool atmosphere with 18,000 other runners through my hometown. Woke up at 6:30. Ate two slices of multi-grain toast with peanut butter. Drank a cup of coffee and got my stuff together. Left the house at 7:30 for the short ride to the course. Bridget dropped me off just before 8:00.
Found Pat (friend from work) and Brenda (his wife) inside the stadium. Pat checked his bag and we tried to find a toilet without a line that was 20 deep -- no luck.
Found our spot by the 10 min / mile sign and waited for the start.
