Overall Rank = 286/
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 16/16
Pre-race routine:

Alarm went off at 4:30 and I made coffee. Grabbed a granola bar and headed out the door by about 5 am.

One bathroom stop on the way (not smart to take the back roads when you know this is going to happen)

Event warmup:

Got to the race, laid out my transition area and then took a short bike ride followed by a short swim.
Swim
  • 15m 39s
  • 587 yards
  • 02m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

This swim was :31 seconds slower than last year! I had a hard time navigating the group which did freak me out a bit. The weeds seemed to bother me also (what a sissy)
What would you do differently?:

Keep practicing the OWS. I have gotten better and I have seen some improvement. It's just some days your on and some you aren't. Today the demons and I fought to a draw.
Transition 1
  • 04m 36s
Comments:

This was faster than last year by 1:03. That is good! I was more organized and I had weeded some of the "stuff" down.
What would you do differently?:

I really should practice transitions.
Bike
  • 39m 11s
  • 13 miles
  • 19.91 mile/hr
Comments:

OK this is where I rocked! I came VERY close to averaging over 20 mph. I don't know what got into me but I just cranked the whole thing out.It was my best race pace by far! 6:29 better than last year - that rocked!
What would you do differently?:

Ride a little harder in to the dismount area so that I wold have kept the 20 + mph ave.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This was :39 better than last year.
What would you do differently?:

Practice
Run
  • 37m 19s
  • 3 miles
  • 12m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I can't beleive the people that either commented on my FCA Endurance jersey or commented on my racewalking speed. I pushed as hard as I could on this. I was 3:29 faster than last year.
What would you do differently?:

Not let my racewalking training slip like I did in June.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a bit sucking dowm=n a water. Went back to cheer Em on.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor swim, not enough food for breakfast. Not enough rest after my last race.

Event comments:

11 minutes and 6 sec faster than last year with room to improve for next year!
