Swim
Comments: Sally Edwards was there high fiving as our wave got started. Every wave gets a "word mantra"...ours was FANTASTIC. For those who need something to get them through the swim you are to stroke to "I-AM-A-FANTASTIC-SWIMMER." I prefer to count and "spot" every 25 strokes and managed to stay on course pretty well. Water felt good, had a few kicks here and there and a few times couldn't find an opening to pass. Overall, I feel great about my swim. What would you do differently?: Continue to train outdoor, push myself a little harder....my heartrate could probably stand to elevate a bit more. Transition 1
Comments: Transition felt very slow and deliberate. What would you do differently?: Still cycling with running shoes on....once budget allows I need to buy shoes and pedals. Definitely need to practice transitions. Bike
Comments: I felt pretty good thought the entire bike course and showed significant improvement from my last race! Panicked when I saw someone with a flat knowing full well I would not be able to fix one. What would you do differently?: Again...I need to train harder if I want to ride more distance. Transition 2
Comments: Still felt a little slow on this transition as well. Probably took more time than I needed to. What would you do differently?: Practice this transition as well. Run
Comments: I downed a package of Performance Jelly Bellys on my way from transition to run, but then drank some water "down the wrong pipe" and started choking a bit. Managed to get that under control and concentrate on running. I felt pretty worn out about 1/3 of the way into the run, but knew if I stopped to walk I'd never start back up. I was very hot and my left shin started to hurt and my right bit toe started to "tingle" I think my ankle strap on left foot was too tight, as I rarely have issues with my left. Anyway...I took it pretty slow, but tried to sprint to the finish. Overall, I did run faster than it felt. What would you do differently?: Continue to work on endurance...work on hydration and nutrition. Post race
Warm down: Watched my kids play in the reservoir...walked about 1 1/2 miles back to car. Event comments: Parking was a disaster...took 1 1/2 hours to get out of the parking lot and I was thirsty and hungry!!! Last updated: 2007-02-07 12:00 AM

Morning was a little rough...I timed it so I would arrive 1:30 early....traffic was so bad getting in I didn't park until 40 minutes before wave time and I still had to take a shuttle to the transition. I ran to the shuttle but there was a huge line. I flashed my number and explained I was a bit late and this "BI-OTCH" told me too bad....she was in a wave 30 minutes later than mine. Fortunately there was an "angel" in line who told me to ignore the "BI-OTCH" and get in line.
Arrived at transition with about 20 minutes to spare. Thank goodness they marked us yesterday at the race meetings. Had just enough time to use the restroom, set up transition, pull on wetsuit and fly to the start. Ate a package of Performance Jelly Bellys right before the swim.
