Pre-race routine:

Drank my coffee and took my vitamins. Then I proceeded to go through my bag to see what I had forgotten. To my surprise I had everything plus some.
Event warmup:

Took a little run on the road and stretched. They had a transition clinic, so I stayed and watched that.
Run
  • 08m 57s
  • 1 miles
  • 08m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

Found it hard to start the run behind people. They would sorta line up three across and since their was traffic you had to wait to go around. But after that I wanted to try to pace myself so I would not be dead on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

start more toward the front of the race on a du than at the back.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Transition was sorta packed as a lot of folks were coming in in packs. good amount of room. bikes were spaced with a lot of room in between
What would you do differently?:

I think for my first real transition this went pretty good.
Bike
  • 26m 38s
  • 7.5 miles
  • 16.90 mile/hr
Comments:

Started off good getting clipped in and off and going. Was passing my first person then my chain came off during a gear switch . Hopped off and went right back on then back on my way. Roads were good. Two good downhills then the wall I swear it seemed straight up. I was not to be stopped. got out of the seat and made my legs burn. Heart rate shot up to 192 on the climb but settled down after.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on my hills and get my rear derailleur set right.
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Transition good was out of my clips and running or trying to. gear switch went better as not many people in the area. The bike spread them out pretty good.
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn to stretch coming off the ride
Run
  • 10m 22s
  • 1 miles
  • 10m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

route was the same. no changes.Had a hard time getting going as there was a hill at the end of the ride. I was able to get going about 1/2 mi into the run . felt good and strong at the end of the run. times were off as I had a hard time getting into rhythm
What would you do differently?:

Need to stretch on my bike before the run. I need more bricks to get my legs going
Post race
Warm down:

walked and stretched.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing really. Being my first time out of the chute.

Event comments:

I think it was good. It was their first time for this du and it went well. But I have nothing to compare it to. I liked it
