Pre-race routine:

had no idea it would take so long to get into the pool-I got there at 7am and didn't start the race until 9:30am-a lot of standing around inside the pool area.
Event warmup:

pushups and striders
Swim
  • 06m 43s
  • 250 yards
  • 02m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

need more swim work-felt like I hadn't trained as hard as I thought I did. Overall for the first race-happy with it. Gives me something to build on.
What would you do differently?:

I wouldn't get to the event as early-eliminate some of the standing around and definitely work harder on the swim
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Even though I had everything out-it seemed to take forever to get on the bike-some of it was that I had to add layers due to the damp rainy conditions-glad I wore the sun glasses. I had to balance the bike on the rail by the seat and it kept coming off
What would you do differently?:

RACE WITH A TRI/ROAD BIKE-put things out in a little better order
Bike
  • 41m 42s
  • 9.3 miles
  • 13.38 mile/hr
Comments:

did better overall but could have done even better
What would you do differently?:

get a tri/road bike to attack hills-GOING SHOPPING FOR A NEW BIKE SOON
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

MT. BIKE WOULDN'T STAY ON THE RACK-TOOK TIME RODE IN SNEAKERS SO THAT TRANSITION WAS GOOD HAD HELMET/JACKET OFF QUICK-MESSED AROUND LOOKING FOR MY TUNES
What would you do differently?:

LAY OUT THE TUNES WITH EVERYTHING ELSE
Run
  • 28m 50s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 09m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

FELT GOOD AFTER THE FIRST 1/2 MILE-NEEDED MORE WORK ON THE HILLS-OVERALL THE BEST LEG OF THE RACE-ONE
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

USING A MOUNTAIN BIKE-NOT HAVING A TRI/ROAD BIKE

Event comments:

IT WAS A GOOD ONE TO DO FOR MY FIRST ONE-THE COURSE FOR BIKE & RUN WERE CHALLENGING WITH THE ROLLING HILLS
