Event warmup:

Had planned on going for a short run, but ended up just walking around.
Swim
  • 40m 20s
  • 1900 meters
  • 02m 07s / 100 meters
Comments:

Nice swim for me. Didn't push, just stayed relaxed. Sighting was good, stayed out of the pack for the most part, but was on the inside rounding the first bouy, so got a little squished, but managed to swim through it. Only held up once when a very large man was pushing me down.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a little more, I tend to take it easy on the swim just b/c I enjoy it so much!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This wasn't a bad transition, faster than Wasa I think, but still not speedy. They had wetsuit strippers which was nice. I didn't rush.
What would you do differently?:

Don't forget eye drops!
Bike
  • 3h 28m 5s
  • 55.92 miles
  • 16.12 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike for me, wanted to stay relaxed, not burn out and spin up the hills. Managed to do that and actually really enjoyed the bike! Got passed lots and lots, but did get to pass a few people.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more. I suffered in the first 8 km of the run b/c I was so hot, didn't realize how hot I had gotten on the bike
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again, I didn't rush. Took it easy and got ready to go.
Run
  • 2h 22m 7s
  • 13.11 miles
  • 10m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

UGH! This was a hard run for me. I was really hot. First 8/9 km were an incredible struggle. Walked most of it. Found my legs again and had cooled off enough around KM 9.
Ran briefly with a lady from Calgary, we had leapfrogged a lot on the bike. Turns out her daughter is coming to the U of L in the fall.. and taking music, so that was amusing.
Both Dwayne and Sherry were very encouraging when they passed me going back, so that was helpful.
What would you do differently?:

Hit the first aid station for water and ice. I needed to cool off faster, and it took a lot of ice in my hat and running through sprinklers. Don't put ice down my top (not a good idea!)!
Don't stop to pee... stopped at the bathroom on the lake trail, shouldn't have, didn't really need to and I think the change in pace was a hindrance.
Really wasn't prepared for how I would feel coming off the bike... now I know!
Post race
Warm down:

Sat in the lake! Would have stayed in longer, but Sherry was ready to go.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too hot! Mentally, I wasn't prepared for how I would feel on the run.

Event comments:

Hard course, everyone says this is a good prep for IMC b/c it's so hilly. Glad to know I did one of the harder courses.
