Run
Comments: My goal was to break 2:45 but in my mind I really wanted to break 2:30. I probably could have done this if it weren't for the hills - they were killer. I walked every single one of them. I felt pretty good up until mile 9. Of course this is where the hills were - coincidence?? As I was nearing the finish line, the crowd went WILD. Since I knew all those people were not cheering for me, I turned and saw the first woman finisher crossing. The crowd noise was incredible. Gave me a little boost. What would you do differently?: Not get so beat down with the hills. They had a real mental impact on me. This was my first half mary and I am proud of what I did! Post race
Warm down: Once I crossed the finish line, I wanted to sit down and cry. My legs were so sore. Instead of sitting, I walked to a friends hotel room and changed into dry clothes. This was probably the smartest thing I did, keep moving. Event comments: Since this was my first half, I was really hoping for a fancy t-shirt. Boy was I disappointed. It was the sorriest excuse for a race shirt I have seen yet. Oh well. It was still a great weekend in Austin with friends. Last updated: 2007-02-08 12:00 AM

Slept like crap the night before. I kept debating about what to wear - would wake up and decide on shorts. Wake up again, and decide on pants. UGH! I should have only brought one outfit!! Ended up wearing pants, long sleeve shirt, and a vest (I love to have pockets when I run).
Had some oatmeal and a banana and then we were off. Left the hotel about 5:15.
Walked from parking lot to bridge. Tried to stay warm.
