Swim
Comments: great swim for me. breathng never an issue, cut the buoys tight and was able to draft when needed. was slowed a few times when catching earlier waves but that was minimal. felt a little gased at the very end. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: no issues Bike
Comments: great bike for me and a PR. started easy until midway on 290 and then started to pickup the pace. got out of the saddle on all the hills and starting hammering the pedals at 1704. felt good leaving most of the disk wheels in the dust. noticed when i caught a few of them they took it personal but trying to repass me but once we hit a hill i never saw them again. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: missed my rack once again and had to retrace my steps to find my stuff. other than that it was in and out quickly. What would you do differently?: keep a better lookout for my stuff Run
Comments: PR run for me and on a tough course. i could not have asked for more from my legs. i literally limped into this race with a bad right knee but i was determined to not let that hold me back. not to knock my fellow competitors but i had never seen so many people walking in a race b4 and i made it a point to never stop running. even on the last big hill at mile 12 i must have past 20-30 walkers including an elite (who actually started running when i caught him). i was never sure were i ranked in my AG during the run but i knew i was in contention for a place. b/c of this i held a wicked piss the entire race b/c i was afraid to stop. in the end it was the right move b/c i dont know if the legs would have been ready to go again and the guy that finished 4th in my AG had the best run split at 1:38. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: had to sit down and control my emotions for about 5min. my grandma recently passed away from cancer so i dedicated thi race to her. my goal was to place in my AG so i could give the award to my dad in honor of her. when i finished and realized i had accomplished this i was overwhelmed. after i got my emotions in check i hung out with amber and other racers until the awards. there was lots of good food, beer and massages. What limited your ability to perform faster: the only thing that would have better prepared me would have been to hill workouts for the run. due to my knee situation all the run training was on flat terrain in order to avoid further injury. Event comments: awesome race. only downer were the bees that seemed to want everyone's food and drinks. however, thats nature's doing not the race organizers. Last updated: 2007-02-11 12:00 AM

up at 4am for a bagel with peanut butter, granola, banana and honey. chased that down with a cup of coffee and a water with nuun tablet. i then managed to burn 30min on the computer playing solitare b4 running out the door with amber at 5am.
transition setup went quick so had plenty of time to hit potty and stretch.
