Comments:

It was bloody cold out there! It took about a couple of miles until I could actually feel my toes! Besides the cold, it was a good run. Tried to go out there with a race mentality, but didn't actually start getting into the race until about mile seven. After the race, my fingers were so painfully cold I thought they'd fall off. I think it's probably b/c of some of the gatorade and water spilled on my gloves.
What would you do differently?:

Right now, I wonder about this strategy of going out easy. I wonder if I'm going out too easy and am hindering my times. The last couple of races I've done, I've always passed by people throughout the whole race. Maybe I should just start with the faster people and see if I can maintain a 7:00 - 7:15 pace, but do a longer warmup before the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Drink a couple of cups of gatorade, munch on a bagel, stretch, light jog to the train station and stretch in the train on the way home. Snacked on a clif bar on the way home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I thought about this part of the entry during the race. I'll always think I could have gone faster because of this or that reason, so what's the point of entering info here? So that I can record what has and hasn't worked for an optimal race. This time around, I'm pretty sure running 7 miles yesterday weighted on my performance some. Also, I stopped by a portapotty during mile 7, which added about 30-40s to my time.

Event comments:

I always question my mental effort and physical efforts. How do I give myself a 5 for either when I felt I have done that once in my life? The result was an unconscious finish and a barfing awakening in the first-aid tent with a saline drip into my bloodstream. That day, mental and physical efforts were optimal, but i guess decision making was bad. I guess the perfect balance would be excellent decision making and 4's for mental and physical effort which would make this a great race!

Anyways, I blather. I'm happy to be where I am at this time of year. I think a 3:10 marathon will be possible later this year since I've been maintaining.
