Swim
Comments: So this is where the trouble happened. I was heading up on the first half of lap 10 and I my ear popped. It kinda felt like it cleared a little but it was hard to tell since I had swimming wax in there. I came back down the pool and it just hurt to have my head in the water. As i came to the wall my counter leaned over and stuck her hand out infront of me and told me to stop. I stood up and reached for my ear which was in pain and felt goo. I took my googles off and just saw blood on my hands. I had burst my ear and was bleeding out of my ear. Once I was out of the water the pain went away decently but goo and blood went on for a good 5 min. I pulled out of the race as soon as I saw the blood.....The worst part is everyone in the pool area watching knows you just scratched. I am glad I wasn't in open water. What would you do differently?: On Monday prior to the race I went to see my DR. to verify I could race. He told me the pool wouldn't be a problem. The pool and the pressure of being in the water is what caused the problem. I would A) get a new doctor B) only do the race after a few weeks of being healthy. Transition 1

Warm down: I simply went looking for a dr. Event comments: For me this sucked. Not due to the race coordinators or the event it's self. I really thing something needs to be set up different for water durning the run since your left to do your own thing. I was worried about that. Last updated: 2007-02-12 12:00 AM
