Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30 am, showered, and ate three mini-bagels. I left the hotel at 6:15 am and arrived at the venue at 6:30 am. After picking up my race packet, I sat in the warm car until I began warming up at 8:00 am.
Event warmup:

I ran a 2.25 mile warm up at 8:00 am (14:37) with a tempo pickup for the last two minutes. My left knee bothered me a little for the first minute, but soon disappeared.

Comments:

I really feel that I should have been able to push harder, but I just couldn't move any qicker. My legs weren't dead at any point, even when I finished. I just couldn't pick up the pace. That's expected since I've done nothing but base distance, so hopefully I'll be able to pick up the pace over the next few months.
What would you do differently?:

Try to go with the chase pack. I was sitting with them for the first mile, but dropped off when they picked it up a little. I should have just put it down and stuck with them for as long as I could.
Post race
Warm down:

I ran two miles on the course (16:27).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Base training. Yesterday's fall.

Event comments:

A very nice race venue.
