Swim
Comments: The swim went really well. I concentrated on getting comfortable and not going out too fast for the first 100. Then for the second 100 I concentrated on a strong pull and keeping my head down. The final 100 I worked on getting as much speed as possible without going breathless. What would you do differently?: The swim went really well, the only thing i would do differently is more volume beforehand and get serious about doing drills to improve my form and speed. Transition 1
Comments: I still have not mastered jumping onto the bike and getting clipped in. Clipping my shoes on beforehand is really not someting I'm comfortabe with yet. Overall I think the transition went ok. I lost some time trying to dry off a little more because the temp was chilly from the pool to the rack. Then throwing on the jacket was an additional time eater. What would you do differently?: learn to get on the bike with my shoes already on the bike. Bike
Comments: Although I have improved on the bike, I need to keep working on it. This is the one area where I stand to gain the most. What would you do differently?: More spin classes and some strength work in the gym. As for race day, push more gear longer. Transition 2
Comments: This was one of the more frustrating parts of my race. I get to my rack get the helmet off, cycling shoes off, and then I could not tie my shoes to save my life. I think my fingers were numb from the ride or something because they would not work the way i wanted them to. What would you do differently?: get some yanks Run
Comments: This was a great run for me. 24:10 is my personal best for a 5k. So, to post a 24:52 after a swim and a bike... I'm pretty happy. There were a few times on the run I had to pull things back because I was getting close to blowing up, but once I got things under control everything else fell into place. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: lots of hydration, some stretching. caught up with other BTer's and ran in to an old friend from school. Pretty cool deal. What limited your ability to perform faster: The bike is the big limiter for me right now. I need more volume on 2 wheels. Event comments: I really like the race it was well run and a good time. I would not change anything other than the temp outside... and we all know how much control they had over that. Last updated: 2007-02-15 12:00 AM

The night before I met a bunch of BTer's at Joe's Pasta and Pizza for some night before pasta. Had a great time meeting other folks that I see online all the time.
Then I went home and packed my stuff for the day to come.
Woke up and had my traditional waffles with peanut butter breakfast. After I was ready i drove on in to town. (this event was nice 5min away) As I was getting out of the car Steve, Marcy, and Laurie pulled up. After getting everything together we walked on in to the transition area.
The event warmup consisted of stretching and laughing about how cold it was going to be when we got out of the pool with Andy, Shannon, Steve, Marcy and Laurie.
