Swim
Comments: I know how to swim freestyle ok, but I end up getting water in my nose, and especially I run out of air while turning my head up to get and going back in. Halfway through, my fear of all things tentacled, and deep water hit me, and I started to get freaked out at the whales or squids that were definitely hundreds of feet under me. Not cool, but funny. What would you do differently?: Not swim the vast majority on my back with my eyes closed. Transition 1
Comments: So slow. What would you do differently?: Use quick laces, or something to speed up putting my shoes on. Bike
Comments: My chain fell off before I could even get clipped in...annoying. This was by far the best part of the triathlon for me. I passed around 50 people (about 20 riders passed me though). It was so fun tearing past groups of them on the larger hills, and I beat my pr on this course by 4 minutes:) Several people wiped out on the course both yesterday and today. Most wiped out on gravel washed down from rain at a intersection with a sharp turn. One guy wiped out hard trying to pass another rider, when the (inexperienced) rider suddenly shot to the left. He was bandaged up pretty bad. And there was apparently some road rage a few hundred yards behind me near the end of the course; don't know what became of it though. What would you do differently?: Use aero bars. Transition 2
Comments: This went well. What would you do differently?: Ride in with my feet on top my shoes. Use a belt for my number instead of those stinking pins. Run
Comments: The run went great, considering my legs felt like wood. My time was much better than expected. I think I could run a bit faster if I used aero bars for the bike portion, and much faster once I get past my long lasting shin splints. What would you do differently?: Train more, including more speedwork. Post race
Warm down: Ha, I stood with my family till I started cramping, then remembered to start walking around. What limited your ability to perform faster: First tri, horrible swim time. Event comments: I will add some pictures somewhere, wherever they go. This tri was fun as hell, I now a usat member, and am signing up for the Big Acorn triathlon. Do I count the women in the overall placing, and age group placing? Where was the massage I was promised dammit. Last updated: 2007-02-15 12:00 AM

Woke up 3 hours before tri start and ate watermelon and blueberries, followed by a medium bowl of plain oatmeal. Perfect breakfast!
At the triathlon, I drank some water, and made a trip to the toilets everytime I had the slightest urge to pee:)
Plenty of walking, then I started stretching about 25 minutes before the swim, then headed down with 15 minutes to go. I swam around till the race start trying to get used to the lake.
