Be Viatalized Energy Bar and a banana for breakfast at 5:30 while installing new cycle computer.
Event warmup:

ran 5 minutes just to warm up. met up with teammate and picked up chips, racked bbikes, etc.
Swim
  • 12m 19s
  • 400 meters
  • 03m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

My right arm was numb, so i stopped after 2 laps to take off my watch, thinking it was cutting off someo sort of circulation. I was wrong, and my HRM/watch was dead anyway.. guess it meant waterproof to 50 LINEAR meters..
What would you do differently?:

swim faster. Need to work on that. Oh, and remember to take the gels out of my pocket before I jump in
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

T1 was actually run to bike. I need to practice my transitions more. I was a bt slow because I was getting fruistrated trying to work my new computer.
What would you do differently?:

Be faster. Dont intall new computer on race day!
Bike
  • 1h 00m 48s
  • 15 miles
  • 14.80 mile/hr
Comments:

See course comments.
What would you do differently?:

Pray harder for no wind. At least it wasnt a dust bowl like the day before!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I dont see that onyone had a t2 time, I think it was included with the bike segment.
What would you do differently?:

be able to get oof my bike faster and out of my bike shoes faster. Consideering shoes with clip closure instead of velcro, which is not nice to cold hands.
Run
  • 31m 45s
  • 3 kms
  • 10m 35s  min/km
Comments:

Started with my TZ sweatshirt and finished with it halfway off, hanging around my neck. Kept the buff on for the bike, because i knew the wind would kill. Annette and I jsut kept remarking that even thought we knew we were faster than our normal pace, it was "only 3 miles, not 13 like last weekend". I was only 45 sec off my pr, so with no pacing because there were no progress indicators, I think that was good. Plus, I was having shin splints to no end. TG it was cold or they would have crippled me.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster, I guess. Bought new shoes after the half last weekend so I wouldnt have shin splints..
Post race
Warm down:

Had a taco and a shower and used my roller thingy to stratch my plantar fascia so the abll of my foor wouldnt hurt later. It worked. Now my heel hurts!
Then we watched the awards and to my surprise, signing up in th fat lady category paid off! I woul dhav ebeen 7th in my AG, but got 2nd in Athena. Anything for hardware, right?

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Shin Spints and the freaking wind. Oh, and my inability to swim faster.

Event comments:

We needed mile markers on the run, but other than that the race itself was good.

Course: Flat 2 loop course, wind was a major challenge, since long sides of the course had KILLER crosswinds. Some turns were very sharp, and had i been going faster, that could have been a problem. If there was no wind, I think I could have averages 20mph no problem.

Course: Run through a park, on sidewalks. virtually flat, but i would have been lost if I wasnt at the back of the pack with a large group to follow. Would have been better if they had mile markers so we could determine our pace.
