Swim
Comments: First OWS. First Tri. What an experience. I wanted to quit at one point in the swim. I was completely struggggggling during the swim. Heart rate was jacked. Decided to put my head down and push on. Wasn't really bothered by other swimmers. I rented a wetsuit and I think it was too small on my arms. I'm not your typical body type for a triathlete and the suit was ridiculously tigh in my forearms/biceps. I think that really effected my swim and comfort level in the water. What would you do differently?: Relax. Buya sleeveless suit and practice in it often! Transition 1
Comments: Don't really remember T1. Everything was a blur until I was on the bike. What would you do differently?: Practice taking off the wetsuit. Practice my routine when coming out of the water. Goggles off, cap off, etc... My wife said it took me at least three tries to rip my cap off. Bike
Comments: Didn't drink nearly enough. Rode hard. Need more TITS! Travel schedule has kept me off my bike. Aero bars and a new bike fitting might be in order. Proper protocol is to pass on the left correct? Well some poor guy passed me on the right at the absolute worst time and got a face full of spit. If you are reading this... I apologize. It was not intentional just unfortunate. Did not drink enough because I blew up on the run. What would you do differently?: Drink more. More TITS. More long training rides! Transition 2
Comments: OK What would you do differently?: Practice more. Run
Comments: Absolutely blew up! Horrible side stitch. I haven't had one of those since the 8th grade??? Was definitely a hydration issue. Really pissed me off. I have been training at a 7 min 5K pace so I am sorely disappointed. What would you do differently?: Drink more on the bike. Be humble ebough to walk a bit to relieve the painful cramps in the diaphram. Post race
Warm down: None. Walked around and talked to friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was sick the week of 4/10-4/14. I couldn't train and am sure that had an effect. Poor hydration on bike. Water bottle was completely full and gatorade mix bottle was 1/2 full after bike. Get a sleeveless wetsuit. There are sooo many things that I can improve on. That is why I will definitely race again. I pretty sure the bug bit me this weekend. Event comments: Lots going on. Lots of volunteers. I have to admit I should have volunteered on Sunday. Awards ceremony was a joke. Too many races and it took forever. Last updated: 2007-02-16 12:00 AM
