Pre-race routine:

Great having a tr in your home town. Got up at 5am, had a slice of toast with peanut butter, and an OJ. Rode down to checkin at 5.40am. Got checked in (good time to go, not many people yet). Racked bike, right next to the guy I'll be racing for 1st place. We had a bit of a chat and he said seeya on the run, he was right.
Event warmup:

Went for a bit of a run with Silver Streak to warm up.
Swim
  • 04m 20s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

Was fired up for start, didnt want to lose too much time on the swim. Ran into water and goggles ended up around my neck, peeled them off and chucked them (now need new goggles). Got out of the water pretty quick and felt good running to T1
What would you do differently?:

Not lose goggles on entry would be good!!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Had a good T1, was only 15s behind lead pack.
Bike
  • 23m 37s
  • 13.3 kms
  • 33.79 km/hr
Comments:

Had a cracker of a ride, went out with a plan to come into T2 first 'cause there were some good runners amongst the pack. Into T2 first averaged 36.5 for ride, wrapped! Caught the pack about halfway thru 1st lap and stretched it out in second lap.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, love to drop another minute.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

fast T2, got out 30sec in front of next category dude.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 14m 30s
  • 3.3 kms
  • 04m 23s  min/km
Comments:

felt great going out on run in 1st place, got mowed down by Lovatt at 1km mark, couldnt stay with him, settled into my pace and finished off race with no threats from any 35-39 category, 2 other age groupers mowed me down at 2km mark.
What would you do differently?:

Must run faster!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Run along water with Silver streak and some stretching, with the compulsory chin wag about how we done.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental....its my head stopping me.

Event comments:
