Pre-race routine:

Up early, oatmeal blueberrie banana breakfast. Drank a bottle of gatorade with recoverite on the way over. Got setup in transition, good spot. Discussed with a number of people whether to use the wetsuit on such a short swim. The various recommendations plus the fact that there were wetsuit strippers convinced me to use the suit.
Event warmup:

Run with some short speed bursts, 200yds swim, getting into the wetsuit.
Swim
  • 06m 42s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim, ripped it, stil only 5th in my AG.
I seriously wonder if this truly was 500m, my time includes wetsuit stripping and running to transition.
Transition 1
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

Wetsuit was already stripped before getting into T1.
Once on the bike I pulled the strap of the left shoe out of the metal ring when I was trying to get into the shoe. Got it in pretty quick but got to be more careful next time.
What would you do differently?:

More careful when putting on the shoe while riding
Bike
  • 36m 57s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.49 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed hard, good ride. Did not make my goal of breaking 35mins.
I trained various times on the course in the weeks before the race.
My new racing top felt so nice and cool!
What would you do differently?:

Push a bit harder.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Still a bit slow...
What would you do differently?:

SPEED IT UP BRO!!
Run
  • 25m 7s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

For the first time I had something left in the tank for the run. I was hurting a bit going out but able to speed it up a bit on the turn and had a bit of a kick at the end. Good run, clear improvement.
Stomach was hurting on the second part, felt like puking for a while close to the finish...guess I pushed hard :)
What would you do differently?:

My best tri run ever...still need to improve. My goal for this race was to break the 8 min mile but I came in at 8 min flat. Not bad, getting better every race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a bit, sat in the shade, had some water first. My stomach ache eased very quickly so I ate a bagel and a bunch of fruit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Getting better every race. The swim is very competitive, bike little less so and the run although improving remains the weak point.
Increase overal fitness/endurance and work hard on the run.
My best race so far.

Event comments:

I thought the website was a bit weak, not that clear.
All the rest was perfect, package pick up super nice folks, bunches of very nice volunteers, great course, lots of shade at the finish, plenty of food and drink readily available!!! Awesome shirt too!!
Great race, will certainly be back next year!!
