Pre-race routine:

I woke up at 11 o'clock after getting to bed around 1 am. I had bran flakes, dried apple crisps and turkey sausages for breakfast along with some water pretty much right after I got up. Found my race belt and got ready to go. I wore my sweatshirt over my kapris pants and my Iron Girl shirt, but after coming back to get my camera I took the sweatshirt off and left it.
Event warmup:

My warm up was a walk back to Yudof and then back again to the start. I also took about 5 minutes and walk around and stretched about 10 minutes or so before race time.

Comments:

There were speakers before the race and then we started. I was able to run easily for the first mile and a quarter or so. There was a four piece band from our school's pep band outside playing music for us. I really wanted to get through the first lap without getting lapped by the leaders. I had to walk just the end of the first lap and this is where the winner and the second place male passed me :( I ran the whole second lap and was able to really pick up my pace towards the end for the last few minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Give a little bit more on that second lap a little bit earlier on because I probably could have pushed a bit more.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around about 3 or 4 minutes and then got in line for beverage and some yummy post race food. I did some stretching and took a nice long hot shower.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Well I am pretty darn happy that my knee felt as good as it did. I felt just some tenderness when I was running but no where near pain. I think I am on the mend! I would have been faster if I wouldn't have had knee pain and IT band problems this year and could have been training full force.

Event comments:

They added a bag check and that was really great! All in all I was really happy with my performance today. I was able to negative split my time and then to top it off after looking at my time from last year I was able to shave off three minutes off my total time!!! I also have a lot of hope now about my knee so the future is looking very good! Can't wait for my next one!
