Comments: The run was good. At first my heart rate monitor was beeping like crazy. My friend was running with me and asked if my heart was alright - I laughed. I DID back off a bit trying to "reserve energy" for the bike. I think this is my best time so far for a 5K run. What would you do differently?: probably nothing - give me more time to study my own nutritional needs and then I feel I will be able to answer this question better. (Maybe more hydration the day before) ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Well I am a genius - that is what I said to myself when I realized I left one on my biking gloves behind. I did remember to grab a few Sportlegs, and half an EnergVit - so I was happy about that. But somewhere in there - I forgot about my right cycling glove - lol. What would you do differently?: Well I definitely need to practice my transitions at home. Preferably remember BOTH gloves. And maybe I should consider a crate. When I am not tired I am a master at balance. I weebled and wobbled while trying to put on my shoes. ![]() Bike
Comments: Very windy, and really I think I just need more time and miles to completely assess. The first loop I drop down to 9.5 mph - I wanted to cry, but the wind kept blowing the tears back. I also have to remember to stay in the tuck position. My time I completed 18-miles last year a minute sooner. I know more miles and interval trainings will help. What would you do differently?: Definitely toughed up the pelvic bone again to stay in the tuck position. Practice more hills BEFORE the next race. My time I completed 18-miles last year a minute sooner. I know more miles and interval trainings will help. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: With it being an open racking - I came back to find NO room to put my bike back. I found a spot near my towel - thought that was rather interesting. Got my shoes on - ALMOST forgot to take off my helmet - lol, but while reaching down to put back on ym running gloves I realized something was missing on the towel -oops it's still on my head. I also forgot which way was run out - so I lost a few seconds trying to get the officials attention to ask. What would you do differently?: Make sure I know IN/OUT for transition. ![]() Run
Comments: Irealized once I stopped focusing on my legs - that I left my bottle of powerade AND my water bottle back in the transition area. My calves and hamstrings started cramping so I took 4 steps - yep counted them, to get up a rather small hill. I went back to running immediately. What would you do differently?: bring my fuel belt, even if I just fill it with one bottle. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Ran around frantically looking for something to drink. Then I walked around to make sure I didn't cramp up What limited your ability to perform faster: I knew I was dehydrated going in - so definitely work on that. And...well..practice - I need much more!! Event comments: They told me I came in third place but I only see two names on the results. T2 not recorded :-( Last updated: 2007-02-21 12:00 AM

I went over my list, packed, and loaded everything the night before.
Iactually remember to EAT something this morning although I found I really was more anxious than hungry.
I ate a quarter of a bagel with penut butter and drank some ... powerade (I think)
Drank a bit of water then jumped in the vehicle and headed to the race site.
Well I got there early - woohoo. Pulled off my bike and begin a quick setup in transition.
It was bloody-cold (not freezing thank goodness), so after I received my body-markings and set up, I sat back in my vehicle for a while.
Once the Natatorium opened up, I sat inside and waited to get my chip.
Once I received my chip, I lightly ran outside and stretched. I was trying to decide how many layers I needed for my upper body. Determined to go without the fleece pullover since I had on a base layer and a long sleeve shirt.
Swallowed a bit more gu, then went back inside to stay warm.
