Run
Comments: I started at the front of the race when the gun went off. I tried to keep up with the fast runners at first then I settled down into my own pace. I got passed by alot of runners. But I kept on going to the finish. The people on the run are very nice, alot of encouragment from every body. That meant alot to me to hear them call out my name and say "you can do it, keep going" What would you do differently?: Next time I won't take so much time off before the race. I think I had to much rest time. I won't start off to fast and try to keep up with the faster runners. I need to keep my own pace and I think I would have had a better time. I stopped and walked a few times. I hated doing that. I need to pace myself. Post race
Warm down: drank fluids, ate and stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to train more. Strength and endurance training. Took to long in between my last run and the race. Event comments: My first half-mary and second race ever. This was a great race. I had a good time. This was alot better than the 5k I did at the Chevron Houston. My running was bad just because I thought I could do better, but other than that I had a great time.Everone was helpful. If all the races are like this one I'm going to be doing alot more running in the future. My wife came out to watch me run, now she wants to start after seeing the race. Seabrook Lucky Trails Marathon Weekend
Overcast
Overall Rank = 96/
Age Group = 40-49
Age Group Rank = 14/20
This was my first half marathon so I don't really have a routine. We got a hotel near the race so we would't have to get up to early. Stayed out late the night before and drank beer to relax. Could not sleep the night before. Don't know if it was nerves or just the fact I wasn't in my own bed.
Got to the race really early. I didn't know what to expect. I got my chip and then just stood around waiting for the start. I stretched and drank water but mostly I was anxious for the start.
