Run
Comments: Hung back at the beginning to allow the crowd to move out a bit. It's always hard to get your groove when you are fighting for space. Got started and it felt good. See-sawed with a group of women for the first couple of miles and then they left us behind. Around mile 3, I decided I needed a portapotty. My friend ran for a gas station, but declared that there was no TP, so on we went. Around mile 5, a volunteer told us the portapotties weren't until mile 8. MILE 8??? Survived, barely, until mile 8 and made a bee line for the portapotty. Whew. Unfortunately, after that is when my legs started cramping and stiffening up BAD. The last 5 miles were very mentally difficult. Especially the last 1.1 miles. I stopped at the water stop at mile 12 and almost couldn't make myself run again, it was that bad. But I told myself I can do anything for a mile, so I did. :-) What would you do differently?: Not do 2 1/2 marathons within a 3 week period. I was defintely not recovered from Mercedes. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the finish, in my space blanket, eating bananas, oranges, and drinking water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of running base, and my stiff legs. Event comments: Race was very well organized, there were TONS of volunteers, and all the Snickers Marathon bars you could grab. Only negatives were that we didn't get our race shirt (they will mail them to us) and NOT ENOUGH PORTAPOTTIES. One portapotty for a 13.1 mile race is insufficient. We ran into one of the race directors later though, and let him know. He promised to do better next year. :-) Last updated: 2007-02-27 12:00 AM

Ate two mini sausage biscuits, a yogurt, and drank a glass of milk. Drove to the race site and headed for the portapotty line.
Walked to the start.
