Total Time = 1h 04m 54s
Overall Rank = 27/250
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 3/13
Pre-race routine:

Cereal with juice for breakfast. Couple bites of a clif bar.
Event warmup:

Nerves and heavy breathing.
Swim
  • 03m 54s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

AWESOME swim! Ranked 8th overall! Which is ridiculous, consider I started swimming 6 months ago. I did exactly what I wanted. Didn't pass anyone, since there was 30 seconds between myself and the person in front of me. But I was right on their heels by the time we exited the pool. I started to feel a bit nauseous halfway through, but pushed on and got over it.

Time includes run out of the building and over the timing mat.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I'm not sure on my T1 time, but it was just as fast as the much more experienced triathletes on either side of me. T1 felt really good.
Bike
  • 28m 5s
  • 10 miles
  • 21.36 mile/hr
Comments:

Wow! 11th overall on the bike! I was really flying. Nobody passed me here. In fact, at T2 the guy next to me said, "Nobody ever passes me on the bike... except you, today." That was pretty cool. I wanted 20mph and I held almost 21.5.
What would you do differently?:

I felt like there were a couple hills I could have done slightly better on, but I am extremely happy with my performance.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Quick transition. Almost took off with my helmet on. lol. I rode without socks, so I had to put them on here. No problems. Unfortunately, I snapped a piece off my cleat while running!
What would you do differently?:

Not break a cleat while running the bike in!
Run
  • 29m 30s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 08m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

The run is my weakness. 8th overall on the swim, 11th on the bike, and 93rd on the run. I held about an 8:00 pace for the first 2.5 miles... exactly what I wanted. Then I got the worst cramp in my side that I've ever had. I slowed way down and it took everything I had just to keep moving.

I can't complain about my run time. I'll work on improving it in the future.
What would you do differently?:

Improve my speed and figure out what to do different so I don't cramp up.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

My running.

Event comments:

Awesome race for my first triathlon! I'll definitely be back.
