Pre-race routine:

Breakfast was Ensure,banana,some peanut butter. Tried to keep a lot of water in me.
Event warmup:

Went to the toilet but didn't have enough time to warm up and stretch as much as I would have liked.

Comments:

First couple miles I tried to stay around 10 min mile pace. I think at mile 5 I was averaging around 10:05 (145 HR).Sometimes it was hard to keep a steady pace because of the crowds. I started to turn it up a little for the next 3 miles to see how it felt (150-155 HR). The last 2 miles I tried to keep my HR up above 160 but at times I struggled due to fatigue and the crowd getting in the way.
What would you do differently?:

Warm up and stretch a little more.
Post race
Warm down:

The end of the race we had to wait close to 30 minutes to just to get to open area. Felt like cattle ;) I'd have liked to stretched sooner.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing besides fitness. Possibly confidence that I could maintain a slightly faster pace. That will work out with experience.

Event comments:

Taking the train there and back was a pain in the ass because of the crowd and no train from Lansdale. Next time I'd prefer to drive to Fern Rock and have someone with me to talk to during the ride and possibly the race.

The race itself was fun but the travel to and from made me think it might not be worth it.
