Swim
Comments: The swim was measured EXTREMELY shorter than advertised, as there is not a chance that I swam 1:30's. Overall the swim felt pretty decent, so I may go so far as to think I swam 1:40's, or maybe even 1:39's, but not 1:30's!! What would you do differently?: Work on swimming HARDCORE over the winter!! Transition 1
Comments: Focused on moving fast, ended up being about 30 secs faster than last year, so can't complain too much! :) What would you do differently?: Learn how to do the flying mount and put the shoes on while riding, versus putting them on in transition and then stopping the bike just outside of the tranistion area to mount bike Bike
Comments: The bike was A LOT slower than I had expected, but it is exactly what I get for slacking off on my training for the last month. Overall, it was not a horrible ride, but if I would have continued my training I think I could have hit 23, if not a little higher What would you do differently?: continue training!! Bike like a madman over the winter Transition 2
Comments: I got out of my shoes a little earlier than I should have, but overall it did not hurt me too bad. Also, this was a few seconds faster than last year, so that is a positive What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I could tell that my fitness had decreased a fair amount over the last couple of weeks, and my allegies/cold had effected my body becasue in my last race (2 weeks ago) at the same HR, I was about 20 - 30 sec's faster per mile at the same HR. Once I got to the run, I was pretty much in survival mode. I did not have any energy to kick and try to push any harder than I did. What would you do differently?: Continue working out until all races are over! :) also, I need to kick my own ass over the winter and get my run times down to the 6:30 range Post race
Warm down: walked around, talked to a few people, went out to lunch with the family Event comments: I really like this race, I just wish I had performed up to my expectations. I still PR'ed the course by 8 minutes, so I can't be too dissappointed, but in all actuality, I kind of am. I am dissappointed in myself for letting my training go to hell and just expecting that my fitness level would stay the same...this is a good lesson learned!! Last updated: 2007-03-03 12:00 AM
