Pre-race routine:

Event warmup:

Easy jog around the area with a few plyometrics.

Comments:

This was a very hard run for me. My legs felt like lead when I started and I thought that would get worked out on the course but it never did. Yikes. Five freakin' miles of lifting concrete blocks. I never take walk breaks but today I took 4 to get my HR down to a decent level. I don't know what was causing the struggle but I just didn't feel like I was running on a full tank. It was pretty dang hot too. BUT when all was said and done I couldn't complain because I shaved 1:37 off my last 5 mile run and got 3rd place in my age group. I also came in ahead of the 2nd and 3rd place runners in the age group below mine. I got a beautiful Iron Girl bracelet and a pair of RYKA Iron Girl running shoes. Oh my gosh, I earned it out there today.

Warm down:

Bad, bad, Becky doesn't do warm-downs. I grabbed some water, located my sweet hubby, and gulped down my Slim-Fast recovery drink. Then I wandered over to the Breakfast Cafe that was set up.

Event comments:

I love Iron Girl events. I'll be back next year. I'm hoping they eventually host a tri in the Denver area.
