Pre-race routine:

Banana, mini-Clif bar (yucky flavor) and some Gatorade Rain. Forgot water for the car ride to the busses, which was stupid. I planned to get water on the course, but didn't occur to me to bring it for before. We have to leave at 4:30 to get to the busses, were at the start by 5:45.
Event warmup:

Porta-potties, the usual. Saved my energy for the race. I found Bryan/MNDiver thankfully, so we could run together. Unfortunately lost Kristin/Kanders in the process. A three minute walk from my position to the actual start.

Comments:

I felt pretty good most of the time. I realized with stopping for Shot Blok/water breaks, I just couldn't run fast enough to get a 10 m/m pace overall. Which I guess makes sense and my time was fine. Running through downtown felt really fast and good, a third wind. But the end when you go way past the usual entrance to Canal Park and then wind around the Decc was rough. And wierdly, no one was hardly cheering. They just sat on the side of the road and watched like we were on TV. Hello! Clap or something. I would say my nutrition plan was perfect, because I wasn't dragging and my stomach felt good.
What would you do differently?:

I think I did the best I could, I trained as much as I could manage happily and I was well prepared. We weaved in and out a LOT to pass slower runners and I wished I had controlled myself a bit and taken a more conservative path.
Post race
Warm down:

Got my medal and composed myself. Found Bryan - who I left in my dust towards the end :) - and we got some drinks and a picture taken. Split off to find my other friends and took the opportunity to stretch a bit in the grass.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Genetics? I don't train like a madwoman, so this is what I can do and I'm proud of that.

Event comments:

Glad there will be online registration next year. A nice course and everything went smoothly. Packet pickup is a pain because of the parking by the DECC and the number of people. But otherwise a well run race with really nice food and things at the end.
