Overall Rank = 320/1134
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 360/93
Pre-race routine:

Woke at 0215 hrs, couldn't sleep. Headed out at 0330 hrs, went to get gatorade, Orange Juice, and a cup of fruit (for breakfast). Went into transition at 0430 hrs and set up. Ate a hammer gell approximatley 45 minutes before beginning race.
Event warmup:

No warm up.
Swim
  • 12m 40s
  • 704 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was Extremely nervous of the swim, my longest OWS ever. Stayed calm and began passing 40-60 people. Really enjoyed the swim, did freestyle the entire swim. Was very impressed with myself.
What would you do differently?:

Use anti-fog on my goggles, they fogged up really bad about half way through.
Transition 1
  • 03m 9s
Comments:

Had a little trouble with the wetsuit comming off. Rest of transition went ok though.
What would you do differently?:

Work on transitions to be faster.
Bike
  • 47m 18s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.03 mile/hr
Comments:

At one point, my waterbottle (which is extremely hard to get out of the holder) fell out and onto the course due to the bumps. I had to stop and get it ($8.00 bottle). Went out hard and passed literally over 100 people. After stopping, I had to re-pass many of those same people. I got passed by 3 or 4 people.
What would you do differently?:

Learn the course ahead of time. I had no clue where I was or where the major potholes were.
Transition 2
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

Took a long time in T2 as I stopped to drink a little. I hammered it on the bike and knew I was going to pay on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Work on transitions.
Run
  • 31m 7s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Bonk'd on the run right away. I killed my legs on the bike and had no juice left for the run. Did WAY TOO MUCH interval running. Was very dissapointed with myself on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Pace myself better.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked over and grabbed a bunch of fruit/food. Sat on the grass with friends and enjoyed some of the festivities for a little bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bad pacing, went too hard out on the bike, possible nutrition issue with Bonking on the run.

Event comments:

Very fun race, can't wait to do it again next year.
