Swim
Comments: I felt pretty crappy--the whole thing seemed hard. Particularly at the beginning when getting pounded and crowded pretty good. But I did draft much better and site pretty well. What would you do differently?: Start further back and even slower. Practice open water swimming with wetsuit much more. Transition 1
Comments: Had some minor difficulty getting suit over heels. Was winded and didn't run very fast from water to transition. Traffic in transition (my row and then on the way to exit) slowed me down some. What would you do differently?: Take it easy enough on the swim that I can sprint to transition and have some strenght to yank my wetsuit off. Bike
Comments: I felt good here. Tended to catch and pass people on the uphills. Never left the aero position. What would you do differently?: Very little. Transition 2
Comments: Rain had picked up, so I decided to leave shoes on until off the bike to avoid an accident or slipping. Did put on socks. So considering all I had to do, it seemed to be a pretty quick transition. What would you do differently?: Little. Run
Comments: I felt like I pushed on the run better than my last race. I was passing lots of people. What would you do differently?: Very little. Post race
Warm down: None. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim exhaustion. Event comments: Rain really ruined the post-race activities. It didn't affect my race much, as I ran into it when my bike was almost over (and it kept me cool on the run). I guess it had made the pavement wet and trails sloppy. But it really started pouring after I finished and they had to pull people off the course and ask everyone to leave (lightning). But I really like the bike course--nice fast roads with smooth right turns. The swim and run courses are good too. Last updated: 2007-03-16 12:00 AM

Decided to not eat anything before the race after recent reading. This seemed fine. I did have Gatorade and a Gu just before the start.
Short bike, short run, short swim. A little stretching.
