Pre-race routine:

This race had an early start. I therefore woke up at 3:30 AM and showered. Got dressed and met Jimbo and Linda in the lobby at 4:15 AM
Event warmup:

Slight jog to swim start which was approx 1.5 miles away from T1
Swim
  • 22m 14s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

Lots of activity in the water today. Many of the other swimmers were looking for space in the water and I got my goggles kicked off once and flooded a second time.

Wetsuit was awkward and maybe a bad choice.
What would you do differently?:

Nix the suit and rough it in the cold. The PR was a product of the current.
Transition 1
  • 06m 45s
Comments:

This was a longer run than Miami Man. Literally 1/3 of a mile on asphalt as a product of a race with 2 separate Transition areas due to the 4,500 contestants.
What would you do differently?:

No suit and better identification of my spot and rack
Bike
  • 1h 23m 22s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.88 mile/hr
Comments:

The roughest bike course I've been on. I hate climbing. My gear shifting sucked. I bust move to Cleremont.
What would you do differently?:

Change gears more often
Transition 2
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

Took a little extra time getting the socks on. Feet were sticky. All else went OK
Run
  • 53m 39s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

A PR for me. I comes on a hilly but cool course. I focused on opening up and running faster a tendency has it to slow down.

A GREAT run.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and stretched.

Event comments:

A Race calendar repeater. I can't wait til next year!!! Perhaps the BEST race and atmosphere I've ever been in.
