Pre-race routine:

Arrived on the scene (0.04 mi. north of Jefferson Ave. & Canada Rd.) at about 7:00am--an hour before my allotted start time. The start area along the west side of Canada was already lined with cars, team tents, riders warming up on their trainers, etc.

Finished dressing, and went to check the air in my tires....forgot my pump. Of course, the car next to me (gentlemen by the name of Jack) was nice enough to assist me in pumping up my new fancy wheels (HED 3 front, and Zipp 406/PT back).

It was cold. Probably mid-to-high 40's at 7:00am, before sunrise. The registration line was long, so I cued up and got registered. Then, hit the porta-potty.

Event warmup:

Around 15-20 min. before my start time I rode south along Canada to Hwy 84, then back, maintaining a high-cadence to warm up the legs.

Comments:

Great fun! Loved the spectacle of all the Time Trial bikes! Tri-spokes, disc wheels, aero helmets, team garb, trainers, etc. It was so cool! (Special thanks to Alex S. [betyoursilver] for encouraging me to give it a try).
What would you do differently?:

Warm up better, ditch the water bottle (just extra weight), and better pacing. Went out way to hard, and was hurting after the turnaround! Live and learn.
Post race
Warm down:

Did a T2 practice, then hit the road running for about 31 minutes (along the trail/running path parallel to the race route). It was fun watching the other riders approach the finish area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor cycling fitness.

Event comments:

Do it! Proceeds go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation!
