Comments:

Anyone that knows me, knows I hate running. So as I was shuffling along, I was questioning my decision to run a race that had TWO runs instead of the usual ONE. Did ok, not as well as I have in the past, but was trying to stay positive. Did lots of sight-seeing as I ran through the park.
What would you do differently?:

Run more.

Need to learn to do the shoes already on the bike thing....

Comments:

Since my run sucks so bad, I knew this is where I'd excel, and I did. I jumped on the bike and hammered as much as possible. I was averaging about 19-22mph for most of the flat area, it's those dumb hills that messes up my avg speed. I passed all sorts of people and it felt good. I kept expecting to see DH lap me at some point, but the only people I saw was this group of four or five guys drafting hardcore as I finished my first lap and started my second.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more hills.
Transition 2

Comments:

Some a$$hole racked his bike in my space so there was NO place for my bike. GRRRRR.

Nothing

Comments:

Here's where I give a heartfelt thanks to the love of my life for running those last few miles with me, even after taking a 2nd in AG for his own race. I was totally dreading this run. After all, geez, I'd already done a run. Really shuffled/walked at a snail pace, but managed to keep putting one foot in front of the other. DH peeled off towards the finish and my kids jumped in to run with me to the end. What a wonderful family I have!!! Thanks guys!!
What would you do differently?:

Run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around while my youngest got me a glass of water and gatorade. They take such good care of me. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of sufficient training and not enough training in the heat yet.

Event comments:

Always love Dave Johnson's events. We're planning on doing the entire series this year. Callaway Gardens is a great place to visit.
