Swim
Comments: I started off way too fast!! My first 100 was 1:11-ish, 200 split was 2:42 and you can see the finish time. I died hardcore. What would you do differently?: Pace myself properly. But I still met my goal so its all good. Transition 1
Comments: I was drying myself off as I ran into T-1. Put on tri shorts, tri top, arm warmers, and gloves in T-1 because it was still a tad chilly out. What would you do differently?: Well considering we had to run a bit from the pool to my T-1 it wasn't all that bad. Oh I would have used rubber bands for my bike shoes but I forgot them and I totally racked myself when trying to clip in I missed and my feet slipped out...GREAT START!! Bike
Comments: Well this course was a bitch, 1 big hill coming out of T-1, which you had to do 6 times, then you go downhill with 7 turns and horrid roads. You had to slow down a lot on the downhill because of the loose gravel you didn't bite it hardcore. Oh and I was the only person on a Tri bike, seriously!! I passed one guy on a road bike and he goes, "oh man a Duel, your a beast!!" Another downfall was upon the top of my first lap I tried to get into Aero to catch my breath and in this process I knocked off my bike computer so I had no data what so ever for the ride, and that marked the 2 seconds I spent in areo the entire ride. What would you do differently?: Have a road bike??? Transition 2
Comments: Pretty quick T-2, 11th overall, I took off the arm warmers and gloves and grabbed a fuel belt bottle with Nuun in it. Then you had to run 1/8 a mile around the track to start the run. What would you do differently?: notta. Run
Comments: I was dying coming off the bike!! The first two miles were pure pain and I didn't know the course so when I saw people running the other way I didn't know how far ahead they are. So after 2 miles of pain I felt much better and was able to run past 2 people and catch a 3rd, and here the drama begins. The 6 inch taller, 50 pounds heavier dude sees me running up on him and when I catch him we run side by side for 1/4 mile before we hit the home streach, a 1/4 mile uphill to the finish. I knew it was coming so I take one last drink of my Nuun and offer him some (noticing he didn't have a drink and there was nothing on course) so he takes a drink and IT'S ON!!! We kick up the hill, I start first with a small surge that he quickly matches. He kicks it up hard, I delay the match thinking he sprinted too early and when I kick it up for one final push with 10 meters left and he kicks it into another gear and beats me by 1 or 2 seconds. After we catch our breath for 2mins we high five and say good race. What would you do differently?: Notta, I ran faster than I expected and I gave it all. Post race
Warm down: I did 1 lap around the indoor track then when all were finished swimming I did a 200 or something swimming cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just semi lack of training, but I was happy. Event comments: It was a nice little local race that was put on by the School of the Mines Swim Team as a fundraiser. So it was a good, basic race. Last updated: 2007-03-19 12:00 AM

Woke up at 530am and got on the road about 6am. I drank about 675 cals of Carbo-Pro and NUUN on the ride up.
It was chilly outside, the sun had yet to warm the earth, so I did two laps around the indoor track and swam 400 yards.
