Swim
Comments: Swimming was tougher than expected. I started behind two guys that looked like swimmers and tried to keep up with them for the first 200 yards. I did OK but strugled with breathing at my planned rithm. After the first buoy, I let the guys go and tried to get into a rithm that I could sustain but I was not succesful. I even backstroked for about two or three strokes in an effort to calm my brathing down. I strugled with breathim/rithm for the next 400 and after the last buoy turn, I started feeling good about the swimming. Tired and a little dissy, I walked out of the water just to hear my wife yell "15". Not sure what it meant, I walked to my bike unsure if I could run to it. What would you do differently?: I need to adjust my training for longest distances at race speed and I need to race my race. I should not have tried to keep up with the two guys in front. The overall swim felt terrible but my time was good 15 minutes was my goal for the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Transition went well. I did not strugle putting my jersey on at all and everything else went on smoothly What would you do differently?: Double check everything although I did not forget anything Bike
Comments: I ran with the bike out of transition and it went well. I jumped on the bike, and started pedaling. At first I was strugling to get my heart rate down so I tried to relax for the first mile. shortly after that, two guys passed me at a good speed and then i started to get my legs back and my heart rate down, next thing I know, my speed starts going up from 16 mph to 17 and then 18, 19, 20. I see the same guys that passed me in front of me and I turned it on, 23, 24 mph......I passed them, flew by them, a few seconds later, ^%!$$#*% %&!&$@! MY PEDAL AND CRANK FELL OFF !! I can't believe this *%!. I get off my bike, take my shoes off and walked back to recover the crank and analize the situation. Well, the bolt that holds the crank in place fell off. I dont' carry one with me. The only thing I can do is walk back the 2.2 miles I rode to transition and hope the bike mechanics have a spare. I walked for over one mile in my socks and finally a good samarithan stopped and gave me a ride back to Transition. I went to see the mechanic, and he did not have a spare. Is this race over? I am alreay here so I guess I I should at least do the run. What would you do differently?: I wish I knew, Maybe carry a spare crank bolt/nut Transition 2
Comments: I racked my bike, put running shoes on and I took off. A staff lady yelled at me "helmet" and then I realized what I did so I ran back to my bike to drop my my helmet off. What would you do differently?: double chaek that I am wearing my helmet before starting to run Run
Comments: The run went well. I was already very upset and dissapointed so I just ran. Never tought about stopping since I did not even do the bike leg. What would you do differently?: Close. i should have sprinted for at least the last 400 yards. My goal was to be at 30 minutes and I beat it Post race
Warm down: Stretching Event comments: The next sprint is July 14, I will be there and I might bring a spare Bike Last updated: 2007-03-21 12:00 AM

I arrived around 6:45, set up my transition area with plenty of time to spare.
Plenty of stretching and I swam about 100 to 150 yards 30 minutes before my wave.
