Run
Comments: For my first official half marry, I feel good. I learned a lot with this "training run" and WILL go sub-1:40 next year! I did not stop to go to the bathroom and my left quad tendon was killing me starting at 53 mins. Every step felt like a knife was jabbing me but I had to continue and break 1:45. What would you do differently?: Stop drinking about 30 mins before the gun goes off. I would also run a little more before stretching at the start. Post race
Warm down: Stretched for about 15 mins and ate a bagel and drank lots of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of course knowledge and my quad tendon pain. Event comments: Great race and I will do it (or the full marry) again! Last updated: 2007-03-25 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:15am, took a quick shower, ate a bagel with peanut butter, drank my green tea, and I was off. I drank water on the way and listened to some "not so quiet" music. I decided to park downtown to avoid the Marta. I checked in my post-race attire and made my way towards the port-o-potty. Lines were not too bad and they did a good job with the number of johns provided.
I typically like to run and stretch for about 15 minutes total but it was not very possible with the crowds. I did some light jogging and make my way to the start. I wanted to get as close to the front as possible so I lined up with the 3:30 marathoners. If I was doing the full, I would have likely been there anyways. I stood there stretching a little and no one else was at all. Kinda weird. I kept about a 1/4 water bottle as I knew the first couple of aid stations would be crazy, and I was right. I had to use the bathroom (again) at the start and thought I was screwed as I did not want to stop during the race.
