![]() Run
Comments: I went out way too fast in this race without a warm-up and not more than about a half a mile into it, my shins tightened up really bad and forced me to walk. I wasn't able to run more than about a quarter of a mile at a time. I went from being fast to thinking I wasn't going to be finishing :( The first lap took 17:00 and the second took 19:56. Not good at all, not good at all. What would you do differently?: Everything...first off I know better than to do a race without warming up. Second, I know better than to go out too fast because I know I can't keep that up. Third, I should have taken it easier considering I didn't workout all week and was super stressed out. Just not a good race. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Not much...got something to drink and listened to them give away prizes to like everyone but me :( What limited your ability to perform faster: Too much...see the what I would do differently. I know I could have done better because I know I am going to be fine for the half marathon in two weeks. I think I just needed a bad race. Event comments: I am never going to do this race again. I did it last year on shin splints and that was not good and this year it was just all wrong. Next year it is out and I think that is a good decision. I am going to just shake this race off and get ready for the real excitement in two weeks! Last updated: 2007-03-25 12:00 AM

No routine...I got up at 8:30 to go register to find out that the race didn't actually start till 10 so I went back to my room because the start was about 3 minutes away and went back to sleep for 45 minutes. Because I got there so early I got to wear number 1 which was at least a little bit exciting.
No warm-up....dumb dumb dumb me. :(
