Pre-race routine:

Woke up got to race about 40 minutes early. Gatorade on the drive to race.

Tried to get out and get into a comfortable pace as soon as I could and was surprised with the pace being in the 8:30 range. Was semi-concerned knowing the last 5 miles are uphill and thinking I wanted to hold back but I felt comfortable so just kept the pace. On the way back, I actually felt pretty strong and was constantly catching and passing groups. With 3 miles to go, I started to feel it and just pushed to hold pace through to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

I only hit the aid stations at miles 6 and 9 for water to wash down the gels. Probably should have stopped at a few more because I was pretty dehydrated at the end.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight. Still need to drop 25 pounds!

Event comments:

Well run race. Seemed like there wasn't as long of a wait for the shuttles as last year but I hungout a while longer post race. Was really cool to have family and friends around running in the 5K.
