Swim
Comments: Tough conditions for the swim. You couldn't see a thing and people were swimming all over the place - the fog made us all disoriented. The water was a little choppy which hurt me because I breath on both sides, every third stroke. I had to change that breathing because it was impossible to breath on the left on the way back in because of the choppiness. My time was crazy fast even with all the challenges. I have to be honest though and say that I don't think it was a full mile swim. I'll know more about how fast I was when results are posted Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Learn to put my shoes on on the bike. Bike
Comments: Very fast ride. It was a bit scary at times with the speeds I was hitting on slippery roads. The climbs were tough - I need to train on hills more often. I drank too much too fast and my aerodrink bottle was out of Gatorade 15 miles into the ride. Once again though, I think the bike leg was by far my strongest. Transition 2
Comments: Got Lost!!! I don't know why I didn't do a walkthrough through the transition area like I normally do. My mistake, and it was a stupid one. I wasted about 30 seconds looking for my area. What would you do differently?: Walkthrough the transitions Run
Comments: Not too good, not too much improvement over my last Oly. My knee was killing me about three miles in and I started getting a calf cramp. I know this sounds like a cop out, but I think that if I wasn;t injured, I would have been a bit faster. Post race
Warm down: Walked a lot and ate some bananas. What limited your ability to perform faster: My knee, but I have to say that I am please with my results and I am proud of the fact that I have come a long way since my first triathlon in August of 2005. Event comments: I'm not sure if I'll do this race a gain in the future. I hate the fact tat you have to drive all the way out to montauk to pick up your race packet on Friday and drive all the way back out again for the race on Saturday. Montauk and Hamptons traffic is a nightmare!!! I know you could stay over, but it's like $250 a night with a minimum 2 night stay. Last updated: 2007-04-02 12:00 AM
