Pre-race routine:

Got up early to catch a bus provided by my credit union to the race. Had a Slimfast drink and banana.
Event warmup:

Standing in line for the port a pot. Accelerade about 45 minutes before race.

Comments:

Since this fell in the middle of my training for an Olympic in May my plan was to make it a training run at 10 min/mile pace. Felt really good at 5 miles so picked up the pace for the last half of the race.
What would you do differently?:

Left HRM on the bus. May have been a blessing since I was able to gauge my pace paced based on RPE which turned out to be pretty accuarate.

Warm down:

Spent about 30 minutes trying to find my group which consisted of 10 mile runners, 5K runners and volunteers

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Got stuck at the Port O Johns and missed my wave. Had to start a wave back and then fight through the crowds. Caught up with 2 girls from work at mile 2 who finished 45 minutes after me.

Event comments:

I understand that this is DC during the Cherry Blossome festival but....organizers were tearing down everything before a lot of runners had finished the race. These poor people had been on the course for over 2 hours and nothing when they finished.
Volunteers were GREAT!!!!!!

Course: Pretty flat course through DC. Nice view of the Cherry Blossoms. Gets pretty boring from miles 5-9. Volunteers were great though.
