Swim
Comments: The swim is obviously not my strong point. But, I did better than I thought I was going to. I was concerned about my breathing since the wetsuit seems to constrict my breathing somewhat. Once the race started, though, the adrenaline took over and I didn't stop at all during the swim, I kept my rhythm, slow as it was, and my breathing was right where I needed it to be. I was a little off course near the paddle boat, probably because the water was so choppy there and the current seemed to pull me to the left. What would you do differently?: I need to work on my swimming, I put sooooo much more into my run and bike. I simply don't swim enough. Maybe I'll work on it:) Transition 1
Comments: I had to make a pit stop on the way to T1, so it slowed me up a little. I put on my bug and sun spray, helmet and shoes (no gloves), and boogied out of there. Besides my pit stop, it was a good transition. Bike
Comments: I loved passing the tri bikes on my road bike, especially the women in my age group. I got passed by the guys with disc wheels, though. I maybe could have done better, but I knew I needed some legs for the run. What would you do differently?: Get some aerobars for my bike, or maybe get a tri bike. The machine was right where it needed to be:) Transition 2
Comments: This transition was much quicker, no pit stop this time:) It took me some extra seconds to find my run hat (it was right by my run shoes!), other than that it was pretty smooth. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: It started out with a bit of a push, I kept thinking "Oh man, 6 1/2 miles, I'm ready to be done!" After the first mile or so, I got into my groove and just took it all in, the spectators, the runners , the scenery, and of course the water stations. Early into it, I spotted Joe and called out to him. He stopped and at first I thought he was finished, thinking he wouldn't stop unless he was done. Then I realized he was waiting for me, how sweet is that? He told me he flatted twice on the bike:( He was upset, I felt so bad for him, I gave him and kiss and we both kept going. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I ran the whole time even through the water stations, it felt good. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and a finishers towel, saw Joe gave him a kiss and a hug. It was great having friends to cheer me along the route and at the finish line, thanks you guys:) What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm sure I could always train more, if only I didn't have to work..... Event comments: This race was put together very well. From packet pick up to post race activities, I can't think of anything I would change. Last updated: 2007-04-03 12:00 AM

We were up before 5 am. Chatted some with our friends at the BT beach house. I had a bagel w/ jam and peanut butter and some water. We headed over to the race site, set up transition, and got into our wetsuits. We met up with some BT'rs, and took some group photos. We cheered each other on at the start of each swim wave.
Joe and I did a warm up swim to get a feel for the water. We both got some cuts on our feet from the oyster beds.
