Pre-race routine:

Woke up early and had a small breakfast--oatmeal and a banana--about an hour and a half before the race. I walked to the finish/staging area to pick up my packet and catch the bus to the start. I think I would have eaten a little more in retrospect.
Event warmup:

I jogged little bit to keep warm but really didn't do much for a warm-up. I kept kind of loose by some stretching exercises

Comments:

It felt good for the most part. I was surprised at how fast I was able to go after having done a biathlon the previous Sunday. I kept a pretty consistent pace for 10 of the 13.
What would you do differently?:

I would bring one more gel with me to take at around mile 9. I could tell I was losing it towards the end.
Post race
Warm down:

I basically walked around for a while and then went home with my family. I live about a 1/2 mile from the finish but I appreciated the ride.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think lack of training at higher milage might have something to do with it.

Event comments:

I liked the format. It was pretty stripped down but I like less flash anyway.

Performance: Good
all splits were under 7:00 except for mile 11 which was 7:15. I think that going into the headwind off the lake had something to do with it (at least I hope so). 8 of 13 were under 6:40 with the best one being 6:26.
Course: Pretty flat course, starting at a park and wending through 2 neighborhoods before hitting the lakeside bikepath for the bulk of it. If it had been a little warmer, it would have been perfect.
