Run
Comments: I hadn't been feeling well all week. I went home early from work on Thursday, skipped my run, and tried to make it up on Friday (which I felt horrible). Then, Saturday's bike ride, I again felt horrible and had stomach issues the entire day/night. Race morning, I was still having stomach issues, so I wasn't completely psyched to do this race. But, when I hit the starting line, I let that all go. I just ran. I didn't push myself terribly hard, but I definitely didn't follow my heart rate, either. I was in the high 160s for most of the run, but my legs felt great. My stomach was still gurgling, but I tried to ignore that. Running the Broad Street Run was awesome. Its neat to look ahead of you and see people for miles in front of you, literally. Its very inspiring to think of. That kept me motivated to keep on running. There were plenty of drink stations, tons of volunteers, and hoards of spectators cheering you on. They even had local radio stations and live performers throughout the course. What would you do differently?: Get to the course earlier to warm up. Have more time to poop before the race start. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a bottle of water and ran back to the car, as far as my stomach would allow. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being sick. Event comments: Great fun! Last updated: 2007-04-09 12:00 AM

Its nice doing a race thats 20 minutes from your house. Woke up, ate a bagel with butter and headed out the door.
The plan was to take the 7:10 am EXPRESS subway to the race start, get there by 7:45 and run 3 miles before the start. But because 17,000 other people were trying to do the same thing, we ended up taking the 7:40 am LOCAL. Yeah, not fun when you are packed in like a sardine. By the time we finally got to the race, my calves were so tight from being trapped in one spot and not being able to move for so long. And, it was 8:25. Tim and I ran over to the port-o-potties, and the line was so so long. I waited, despite hearing the gun go off.
I shed my long-sleeved T-shirt and headed for the starting line.
