Pre-race routine:

2 bagels penut butter, water/ gatorade. up @ 4 drove to race about an hour. unloaded bike and gear. Got marked, set up transision area. walked and stretched. swam 10min. before start.

rough choppy cold water. took just as long to go out and in as it did to cross almost do to the current.
What would you do differently?:

wet suit for sure. control breathing a bitbetter and push a bit harder at end

horrible weather!!!! Very strong rain insaneley strong wind gusts. Headwinds both ways it seemed like. Very bad thunderstorm. If you were there then you know.If you weren't then you're lucky!!
What would you do differently?:

pace was good. Maybe drink a little more, and keep my cadence a bit higher. Slight cramps at begining in lower legs, but went away rather fast. need to drink more fluids

transition area was trashed because of storm. Had to rinse before putting on wet sox and wet shoes. not good

weather cleared, no sun, but no rain. all gear was wet. very uncomfortable first 10-12 minutes. took off too slow, but finished strong.

quicker start. first leg was too slow

weather, and preperation. needed to drink more fluids the day before

Event comments:

Considering the storm that happened mid race. The amount of volunteers and staff that stayed out on the stations especially on the bike during the bad stuff. this was a great race. The distance is almost perfect. Even with the weather I had a blast can't wait till the next one.
