Total Time = 1h 28m 17s
Overall Rank = 188/600
Age Group = M30-39
Age Group Rank = 30/53
Event warmup:

I stretched a little, and swam a lap, it was my first time ever in a 50m pool configuration...I like it.
Swim
  • 08m 37s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

A little disappointed in the 1:57's wish they could have been faster, but it was also my first time swimming in a 50m pool. I love that configuration.
Transition 1
  • 02m 42s
Comments:

Long run from pool to transition area, I think both T1, and T2(which is added into run time) went very well.
Bike
  • 50m 54s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Published distance was 14 miles, but my bike computer, and calculated speed average, match official results avg speed, so I'm going with 15 miles. Would have been faster but I dropped my chain and it took me about a minute to get it back on. Since it happened at the bottom of a long ass hill, I'm guessing it cost me a minute or two more since I couldn't carry any momentum into the hill. What also cost me was fear that I would throw the chain again so on the down hill runs I coasted instead of going to the big ring, I probably lost 2-3 minutes overall to my front derailleur issues.. Part of the problem is I have an FSA crank and Shimano chain, there are some issues getting them to work together, my bike tech(whom I trust quite a bit) wanted to put an SRAM chain on, but he was out of 10sp chains, we thought we could get by this race but oh well, it will be fixed by the next Ultramax weekend in June.
What would you do differently?:

I rode well, just had some bike issues, I wouldn't change much.

I will start doing the unholy trinity ride with CMC more often to get stronger for hills. This race features "the wall" about 70 feet of vertical climbing in less than 2 10ths of a mile.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 26m 3s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, the hilly bike course left my legs toast so I couldn't run much faster than the 8:40's, I'm going to start an extensive hill training program this summer to get faster in these Missouri races(Then I'll go race in Illinois where it's flat) :)

Post race
Event comments:

Got to meet crozetiga and also talked to thofz...had some BT'ers there, had lots of CMC'ers there....just a great race in general

Also ran into a guy I went to High School with 20 years ago, he was doing his first tri, and he seemed pretty excited to do another one after he was done...Great job Bob, you're a triathlete now!
