Swim
Comments: Water was a bit murky, brownish, but comfortable. Silver Lake is far worse. This is a relay so there is no need to save energy. I could go all out at the swim. Choppy on the way out - but nowhere as bad as in the ocean. Needed to use more effort to propel forward as the current kep pushing me backward . The sun was on the right hand side (my breathing side) which made sighting a bit tricky. I was on the last wave and there was a few minutes I had the idea of possibly being the last one to exit the swim. Some time on the way out it felt like I was swimming all by myself. Did some bi-lateral to see how other swimmers were doing. Turned out people spreaded way out, and there wasn't much kicking and slapping. Actually passed some people. After the first turn, the current pushed me sideways and I had to make sure I was in the right course. I am more comfortable breathing on my right and the current coming in forced me to drink more water than I intended to. On the return the current added to my speed. Pushed even harder trying to pass a few more people. Felt great exiting the water. Transition 1
Comments: Didn't bother to unzip wetsuit, just focus on running back to TA. DZ cheered for me as I ran. Gave the timing chip to the cyclist and I was done for the day! Bike
Comments: I didn't do the bike leg Transition 2
Comments: I was the photographer when the runner took over the timing chip from cyclist's ankle. Run
Post race
Warm down: Hung around with DZ and teammates. Took pictures. Event comments: Great day for a race. Very relaxing :) It's awesome to do the swim leg of a relay. Last updated: 2007-04-18 12:00 AM

Picked up the runner and carpooled to race site. About 1 hr 15 min away. Met up with the cyclist and went set up TA. Since it was a relay, it was easy.
Walked around in my wetsuit. Water temp was 72F, a bit too warm with a full suit on (wetsuit cut off is 78F). But it's only going to help, and I don't mind a bit too warm. Went into the water a did a few strokes to get used to the feeling, and peed.
