Run
Comments: I lined up at the line and looked across. Didn't see alot of fast looking people up front. When the gun sounded, I took off...immediately realizing I was in first place. I kept thinking I can't be leading. But I was. After 4 minutes no one had passed me, and I started having scary thoughts. I don't want to be in first place because I'll make the wrong turn!! About three quarters of a mile in, three people passed. I was happy in fourth place...it was higher on the leaderboard than I've ever been before. Through the next mile and a half or so, another three runners passed me and I was now in 8th place. I ran it out hard...no one else was making a move. Then in the last quarter mile I heard people screaming "COME ON CELIA YOU CAN GET HIM!!". A girl (who turned out to be the race coordinator) was just about to pass me but I pushed really hard and kept her behind me. When I turned the corner for the finish line I saw 20:40 on the clock, ran as hard as I could and crossed the line in 20:45, only 5 seconds in front of the girl who tried to pass me a minute earlier. What would you do differently?: Nothing! PR BY A LOT!!! Previous PR was 21:09. Post race
Warm down: Water...Gatorade. Ran out about a half mile and waited for Lorena. Ran the last half mile in with her. Then waited for Terri. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing...this was the fastest I've ever gone. Event comments: Good race, great organization, and a good cause. I do this one every year. The usual. Got to the race site, picked up packet, etc.
None. Terri and I walked around, got ready for the race. It was chilly so we spent some time in the car too. Met up with Lorena and her BF, chatted a bit, then got ready to race!
