![]() Swim
Comments: I don't know. I really thought that I was prepared....especially compared to last year. But as soon as I got into the water the toes on my left foot cramped a bit. Perhaps the shock of the cold water. I stretched that out and was ok but heck it took long time to get to the first bouy. I even ended up swiming on my back and the dreaded breststroke. But over all it was so much better than last year. My goggles were fine so at least I learned that lesson. Cool PRed by almost 5 min What would you do differently?: I wouldn't have got into the water the day before with the Danskin group. I guess the 300 meter swim we did was fine but the 30 min treading water with my arms out wasn't the smartest thing to do and I won't do it again. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I really felt like I flew through the transition. Last year I was a slug. I even ran up to my bike this year instead of kissing the ground when I exited the water. I did have a problem getting my bike pants on. They wouldn't go up over my butt and I spent some time getting them up enough for me to get onto my bike. What would you do differently?: Perhaps I need to either dry off a bit more or practice a new technique but something has to change there. ![]() Bike
Comments: I was pretty happy with the bike overall. I was happy that I was able to keep my speed up over 15. Last year I was much slower over all and it showed in the time. I was on a borrowed bike and didn't have areo bars and it really would have made a difference I think. My arms were extrememly tired after the swim and leaning over and not having to support my weight would have been a god send. I didn't rmemeber to pack my gell in my bike top. I needed it. I did remember to stretch my calfs on the way in so that was good. PREd by over 4 minutes What would you do differently?: I wouldnt't have been so lazy and send my own bike. I would have but a gell in my top so that I would have taken it during the ride ![]() Transition 2
Comments: it was fine. I didn't put my socks on for the ride so that saved me time. But I did need to put them on for the run and I did and it didn't take long What would you do differently?: Not much ![]() Run
Comments: UGH remember I told you I didn't pack a gell on the bike. Well it came back to haunt me as my right shin was cramping for the 1st half of the race. I ran buy one but didn't stop. I promised myself that if I saw another one I would stop..........and I did. It was banana. I F__king hate bananas. But I knew I needed it and so I gulped it down trying not to gag. It helped because by the beginning of the last mile I felt better but it didn't help because I was so fried that I just limped in. I ran more but couldn't substain any kind of pace. I was really disappointed but at least I improved over last year and last year I felt fine. What would you do differently?: EAT YOUR GELL ![]() Post race
Warm down: One of the girls in our group was still out there heading for the finish line so I joined two others to go and cheer here in. That was my jog down and darn if I didn't feel 100% better running then. CRAP it figures What limited your ability to perform faster: I made a ton of mistakes and still improved by 12 minutes. So who knows for next year. I was happy over all but would have liked to have seen a run in the 30s Oh well next year. At least I wasn't last in my age group this year. Event comments: I enjoyed the race. I will be back to PR again next year. Last updated: 2007-04-20 12:00 AM

I was a bit late to the race. I was riding with a friend and she didn't want to leave any earlier. I wish I would have been there a bit earlier.
I made sure the do some stretching in the car on the way and I am sure that helped out a lot.
