Run
Comments: I felt so good all day! I had blisters, but they were limited in the pain tha they caused, and I was just so happy to be there with my sweet boy, Nick. I felt so grateful to be able to participate and I smiled all day. Around mile 16, I took 400 mg of caffeine. This was an amazing help. What would you do differently?: Nothing. It was perfect. Post race
Warm down: We stretched afterward, limped back to our room and set up an ice bath, which was extremely painful. Later, we hit the spa to relax and nap. We did a LOT of napping over the next few days and ate considerably less than we would have liked to be able to eat. What limited your ability to perform faster: I kept myself at a really even, zone 2 pace the whole time. I wasn't there for a PR. I was there to experience the day. Event comments: Vegas is a perfect place for your first marathon! Last updated: 2007-04-25 12:00 AM

Had room service deliver a full breakfast with ham, eggs, toast, bagels and cream cheese, coffee, tea and a smoothie at 4 am. Ate everything in site for fear of not having enough energy to complete the race. Filled large water bottles with fotified Traderade (added salt, sugar and honey) to drink on the route. Headed from the Luxor next door to the race start.
Stood around for ages in the cool, morning air. We were so excited! It was the first marathon for both my husband and I and we had trained since August.
